Commonly asked questions about Aminyllin 100mg:

What are Aminyllin Tablets?

Aminyllin is a prescription medication that treats asthma and some heart conditions. Aminyllin works by relaxing the airways and by inhibiting the release of inflammation-causing mast cells.

Why do cats and dogs use Aminyllin?

Aminyllin may be prescribed for conditions such as asthma, coughing, collapsing trachea, and other respiratory conditions. Aminyllin may also be given with other medications to treat heart conditions that involve elevated blood pressure in the lungs.

What else should I know about Aminyllin?

Aminyllin is a medication that will likely require blood level monitoring, so it is crucial for you to keep all appointments with your pet's veterinarian.

What problems could my dog or cat have with Aminyllin?

Aminyllin can cause nausea, vomiting, headache, and insomnia. Nervousness and stomach upset seen at the beginning of treatment may go away over time as the body adjusts to the drug. Signs of toxicity should be reported to your pet's veterinarian right away and they include persistent vomiting, cardiac arrhythmias, and seizures.

How do you use Aminyllin?

Aminyllin may be given with or without food. Follow your veterinarian's directions. Aminyllin is only effective if given regularly as prescribed. Be careful not to miss doses. Do not double up the dose if you miss one.

What is in Aminyllin?

The active ingredient in Aminyllin is Aminophylline. Aminophylline is a soluble double salt of Theophylline and ethylene diamine and this improves the solubility of the latter by about 20 times. This ensures a more reliable absorption of Theophylline from the gastrointestinal tract and more predictable effect. The drug Theophylline is a bronchodilator and diuretic. It opens the air passages in the lungs by relaxing the muscles in the lungs and chest.
