Commonly asked questions about Nuelin SR Tablets:
What are Nuelin SR Tablets?
Nuelin is a prescription medication that treats asthma and some heart conditions. Nuelin works by relaxing the airways and by inhibiting the release of inflammation-causing mast cells. Sustained release (SR) allow the drug to enter the system more slowly so that fewer doses need to be given.
Why do cats and dogs use Nuelin?
Theophylline may be prescribed for conditions such as asthma, coughing, collapsing trachea, and other respiratory conditions. Nuelin may also be given with other medications to treat heart conditions that involve elevated blood pressure in the lungs.
What else should I know about Nuelin?
Nuelin is a medication that will likely require blood level monitoring, so it is crucial for you to keep all appointments with your pet's veterinarian.
What problems could my dog or cat have with Nuelin?
Nuelin can cause nausea, vomiting, headache, and insomnia. Nervousness and stomach upset seen at the beginning of treatment may go away over time as the body adjusts to the drug. Signs of toxicity should be reported to your pet's veterinarian right away and they include persistent vomiting, cardiac arrhythmias, and seizures.
How do you use Nuelin?
Nuelin may be given with or without food. Follow your veterinarian's directions. Nuelin is only effective if given regularly as prescribed. Be careful not to miss doses. Do not double up the dose if you miss one.
What is in Nuelin?
The active ingredient in Nuelin is theophylline. The drug Theophylline is a bronchodilator and diuretic. It opens the air passages in the lungs by relaxing the muscles in the lungs and chest.
