Hypokal tablets aid in the treatment of chronic potassium deficiency (hypokalaemia) in cats. The active ingredient in Hypokal is Potassium (as Gluconate) 78mg (2mEq) in each tablet.
Hypokalaemia (chronic potassium depletion), a result of inadequate dietary potassium intake relative to excessive urinary potassium losses, has been shown to be significantly associated with chronic renal failure, hepatic disease, systemic infectious diseases, and neuromuscular or central nervous system disease.
